Peace Festival 2014 launches at Government House – experience the amazing Christmas light display at the official house of the Governor of Guam from now until January 2015! The Guam Visitors Bureau (GVB) announces the opening ceremony for the Second Annual Peace Festival 2014 officially begins today around 6 p.m. at the Government House in Agana Heights.
The Peace Festival theme this year is Magof Nochebuena (A Happy Good Night) and will feature an array of colorful Christmas light displays throughout the historic gardens of the Government House. The festival will also feature cultural performances, fireworks, singing, food and drinks for the whole family to enjoy. In addition, visitors are welcome to take pictures of the giant Government House Christmas Tree at the front entrance or discover many more Christmas trees lined up inside the Government House that were decorated by different Guam organizations. Each of Guam’s 19 villages at the festival will also display a belen, or a local nativity scene of the baby Jesus.
“GVB is proud to partner with the Office of the Governor and First Lady to make the second year of the Peace Festival even better. It’s definitely a great way to lift the spirits of our local residents and visitors during the holidays,” said GVB Acting General Manager Nathan Denight. “We hope everyone has a chance to visit with their families because it’s a very special treat to visit the Government House. As go move forward with our Tourism 2020 goals and move tourism beyond Tumon, GVB thanks all of our partners in the industry for making our home a better place to live, work and visit.”
