A Seychelles press conference attended by some 35 Brazilian tourism trade and national press in Jardins at Sao Paulo was the opportunity for the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture to speak about the Seychelles as what he called is the new holiday destination for Brazilians. “Seychelles, as its logo states, is simply another world,” the Seychelles Minister said.

Minister Alain St.Ange and David Germain, the Seychelles Tourism Board’s Director for Africa and the Americas, spoke to the press as a film about Seychelles was projected as their backdrop. The Seychelles Minister said that his Seychelles delegation was in Brazil, because the time had arrived to bring a new holiday destination for Brazilians that is not only the most beautiful islands, but that is also safe and secure, romantic, blessed with diversity and culture, and that offers a complete list of niche attractions as they remained guided by the principle of sustainable tourism.

“We are happy to have hosted the MOB Fashion Shoot with Barbara Berger, the famous Brazilian model as the main star. Tonight their professional pictures decorate the hall where we are gathered. Let me thank Marcelo Dib, present here with us tonight, this popular owner of MOB, for having chosen Seychelles for his summer fashion shoot. The MOB new magazine now launched does justice to not only his spectacular fashion range, but also it does justice to our mid-ocean islands,” Minister St.Ange said.

“Today, Seychelles is the most sought-after honeymoon destination, because the British Prince William and Kate Middleton chose Seychelles for their special honeymoon. We remain the special honeymoon destination, this we know, because we are blessed to live in Seychelles, the islands that are unique, but with no real natural threats such as cyclones or tornados, and with a year-round summer. The islands are now called the land of perpetual summer, with white and clean sandy beaches, and clean and clear warm turquoise blue seas. Seychelles has a small population of some 86,000, and our islands remains as pure as it gets,” the Seychelles Minister said.

When answering questions from the gathered press, Minister Alain St.Ange and David Germain highlighted the diversity of the people of Seychelles, which he said was the melting pot of cultures. They said that their mid-ocean islands were truly unique by a thousand miles.

And for the third year, Seychelles is again at the Explore South Africa Workshop in Sao Paulo in Brazil. The Seychelles delegation has joined forces with Gisele Abrahao of Global Vision Access to overcome the language barrier and to facilitate many meetings with the ministers.

David Germain, the Seychelles Tourism Board’s Director for Africa and the Americas, has been instrumental in maintaining the pressure for the islands to be more present in Brazil. He is being assisted with Explore South Africa 2012 by Myra Fanchette, the Tourism Board’s Marketing Executive responsible for Africa and the Americas.

Explore South Africa remains the largest and most important event of promotion, professional training, and marketing of tourist attractions of South Africa and other Southern African countries in South America. The main interest for Seychelles in this workshop is to push the twin-center approach with South Africa, as the islands positions itself as the new holiday destination for Brazilians. The promotional catch phrase, “From the Big Five… to the Best Five,” was echoed by the Seychelles delegation at Explore Africa 2012.

Some 130 exhibitors are present again, and the first day of business saw a steady stream of Brazilians visit the many display stands. It is believed that the 2012 Explore South Africa will be as good of a success as in previous years.

Minister St.Ange told the press at Explore Africa 2012 that the presence of the Seychelles Tourism Board is with the support and partnership of Air Seychelles, the island’s airline. “They will be increasing their flights to South Africa from Seychelles to four weekly flights from December this year, and this will enable the promotional concept of ‘From the Big Five… to the Best Five’ to be easier marketed, because of this increase in service,” Minister St.Ange of the Seychelles said.
